Grant for American-grown elderberry products
USDA Rural Development announced on 24 September 2026 that it was awarding Cockeyed Farms a $200,000 grant to expand processing, marketing and distribution of its American-grown elderberry products. The farm is in Folsom, Louisiana.
Products and market-development aims
USDA describes Cockeyed Farms as a producer of organic American elderberry, blueberries and honey, which it processes into products including shelf-stable goods. The agency expects the investment to open new market opportunities, improve long-term sustainability and expand the customer base. It also expects stronger elderberry demand, improved farm profitability and support for rural economic development.
The award comes through the Value-Added Producer Grant Program. USDA says the programme supports agricultural producers in developing value-added products, conducting market research and implementing business and marketing strategies.
