One project funded

USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture announced $297,000 in funding for one project addressing wildfire in Arizona on 12 August 2026. The announcement names Northern Arizona University as the 2026 awardee.

Rapid response across food and agriculture systems

The funding comes through the Rapid Response to Weather Events Across Food and Agriculture Systems programme, which is funded by the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative.

NIFA says the programme aims to deploy strategies rapidly and fill knowledge and information gaps to protect US food and agricultural supply chains, from production through consumption, during and after weather events and disasters. The agency identifies applied research and Extension outreach as ways to alleviate their impacts.
